Appin's Newest Neighbourhood to Begin Works

As featured in South West Voice here.

Works commenced this week on Appin’s newest neighbourhood Appin Grove, which will provide 259 much-needed, quality homes for young families.

The demand for housing in Macarthur remains strong with lots in Appin Grove selling out just three months after development approval was granted in 2023 by Wollondilly Shire Council.

Walker Corporation welcomed the endorsement of the Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan (CPCP) by NSW and Federal Governments, enabling it to begin operational works of the council approved development area.

This first stage of construction for Appin Grove will include establishing site facilities and traffic controls, earth works and the installation of new potable water and wastewater, electrical and communications infrastructure.

These works will be carried out in accordance with approved planning controls and will take approximately nine months to complete.

Walker will have several measures in place to minimise disruption during construction. Fauna and ecological experts will be present and drone thermal imaging will be carried out daily to protect any fauna in the surrounding areas.

Patrick Polomka, Walker Corporation Senior Project Manager said young families who bought lots in Appin Grove are eagerly waiting for the start of construction.

“The families are excited for the start of these works and they’re now one step closer to moving into their dream homes. We expect the first Appin Grove residents to get keys to their homes in 2025,” Mr Polomka said.

“We’ve designed Appin Grove to be a vibrant place for families with beautifully designed homes and significant tree canopy so they can enjoy a greener and cooler neighbourhood.”

Walker has also commenced staged planting and are revegetating 400,000m2 of their land in Future Appin, adding to the 5 million square metres of conservation land to be dedicated by Walker to the people of NSW. All up, it will be an area of bushland nearly two times larger than Sydney CBD to be preserved for future generations.

Once completed, Appin Grove will be a thriving new neighbourhood, located close to local stores and cafes, parks, ovals, and a local public school.

Appin Grove buyers Stephanie and Joshua Raish said they are excited to build their dream home and raise their family in an area with so many lifestyle opportunities on the doorstep.

“We’re so happy that works have started. We can’t wait to be in our new home, with space for our baby to grow and a backyard,” said Ms Raish.

“We love that Appin Grove is so close to Wollongong and the beautiful Illawarra beaches, all that Campbelltown has to offer with Macarthur Square, Campbelltown Hospital and Western Sydney University along with the proximity to the Southern Highlands.”
